Natural gas information sessions

SGN Natural Gas Network Information Sessions are being held to engage
directly with the public.

An open invitation has been issued to a series of information sessions taking place over the coming weeks to update the public about the construction of the SGN Natural Gas Network. SGN Natural Gas is currently building the new mains gas network which will bring natural gas to thousands of homes and businesses in the western area. The multimillion pound infrastructure investment is scheduled to supply gas mains and meters to 40,000 customers over the next 40 years in Cookstown, Coalisland, Derrylin, Dungannon, Enniskillen, Magherafelt, Omagh and Strabane.

The ambitious project is aimed at tackling domestic fuel poverty and enabling businesses to grow by switching to natural gas as the greener and more energy efficient fuel choice. With the main construction phase currently underway, 220 subcontractors are working on the ground at key locations in the counties of Tyrone, Fermanagh and Derry. David Butler, head of engineering
for the SGN Natural Gas Network, encouraged local residents, business representatives and other stakeholders to come along to an informal drop-in session to find out more about ongoing development work in their local areas. He said, “We are committed to positive engagement with the local communities we serve and look forward to meeting as many people as possible at the information sessions where members of the project team and our contractors will be available to answer questions on everything from roadworks to the benefits of natural gas.”

The info sessions will be in Cookstown (Burnavon Theatre) Tuesday March 6; Lisnaskea (Donn Carragh Hotel) Wednesday March 7; Omagh (Strule Arts Centre) Thursday March 8; and Enniskillen (Fermanagh House), Thursday March 15, all from noon-2pm & 5-7pm. • For more information visit www.sgnnaturalgas.co.uk
