PSNI-01-460x306

A FERMANAGH police officer has admitted to fraudulently submitting false expense claims to the PSNI for over a year, the Fermanagh Herald can reveal.

David John Lowe, who is still a serving police officer for the Fermanagh area, faces 15 counts of fraud by false representation.

The 34-year-old faces charges that between March 22, 2013 and April 3, last year, Lowe dishonestly made a false representation, namely, he submitted a false expenses claim for March 23 – including 14 other dates – with the intention to make a gain for himself and to cause a loss to the PSNI or to expose the PSNI to a risk of loss.

Lowe, who gave an address as the PSNI station in Enniskillen, has yet to make an appearance at court.

Defending barrister Steffan Rafferty entered a guilty plea on his client’s behalf.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report and was listed for September 28 at Enniskillen court.

His barrister previously submitted a legal aid application at a hearing last month.

A monthly payslip was handed to District Judge Nigel Broderick. Mr Rafferty said at the time that a “considerable deduction” comes from that amount because of costs and that the potential outcome is that “he would lose his job” which would have “serious financial consequences”.

However, Judge Broderick said he was not minded to grant the application.
