Fermanagh County Board have taken the dramatic decision to pull this weekend’s round of SFL Division one and two games altogether.
The County Board says in a statement released on Wednesday that the decision comes after a number of earlier reshuffles concerning this weekend’s games.
“CCC wants to make it clear that this situation has been forced upon us by the decision of Senior County Team Management to call a training session on Friday night in direct opposition to these fixtures, whilst making it clear that no county panel member would be available to his club,” said the county board statement.
The statement goes on to say the county board met with the senior county team management on Tuesday March 31st, and agreed to reschedule this weekend’s round from its original date of Sunday to Saturday to facilitate the county team management.
“A subsequent request that the SFL divisions one and two, round six on 9th May be changed to one for club players only was received from County Management and was considered at a CCC meeting on April 23rd. Since the pairings in the available rounds did not allow this, the meeting decided that round six be brought back a further 24 hours to Friday May 8th,” said the county board statement.
The statement concludes with the observation that there is now just one guaranteed week-end of senior club football in the remainder of May.
