Struttin’ Stars dancing success

STRUTTIN’ STARS line dancers based in Lisnaskea and Brookeborough travelled to Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey on Friday 12 and Saturday April 13 to compete in the All-Ireland line dance finals. In the Lisnaskea class they had 11 dancers competing.

In the U8 Beginner Div, Abigail Rice was placed 3rd. Emma Moane and Lisa Marie Hannigan reached the top ten final. And competing in the Partners Division for the first time, Laura King and Lisa Marie Hannigan, Caitlin Forster and Maria Greene, and Shannon Murphy and Carina Courtney who made the top ten final. Some hope to compete in the starter division at the Worlds in Blackpool.

The club took 11 1st places at the Finals.

The club have welcomed 3 new dancers who travel from Castleblaney to be part of the Club , sisters Sinead, Emma and Carina Courtney , these girls have taken away 5 cups at this years Final , and also hold European and world titles.

Sinead danced in the 13-15 Advanced section and won the Anita Swift Memorial Cup.

Sinead also won the Children’s Charity and the children’s partners with sister Emma. Emma won the 13-15 Children’s Open and was 2nd in 9-12 Advanced. Younger sister Carina won the U8 Newcomer.

Caitriona Bannon and dance partner Conal Meagan from Iniskeen Co Monaghan danced in the Partners division and took the title for the 3rd year.

Caitriona is hoping to get back to the competitive dancing and has started preparing for the Irish Masters in June. Conal won the Adult Open Division and was placed 2nd in the16-24 Advanced.

There was also a 1st in the 13-15 competition, Newcomer division, Megan Murphy, a 1st 16-24 Novice division, Natasha Callow, and a 1st in the 9-12 Novice section, Jade McMahon.

Jade was also a member of the winning team of four with Courtney Mc Goldrick, Alex Thornton and Meaghan Callow. This team have won the Children’s Team of 4 Line for three years in a row and will get to keep their Perpetual Cup.

The club had numerous top five finalist and were all presented with lovely crystal stars.

The club will now prepare for the World Masters in Blackpool in August.
