Arlene Foster is the only candidate for the Democratic Unionist Party leadership, current DUP leader Peter Robinson has confirmed in a tweet posted a short time ago.
With the deadline for nominations passing at 5pm, the outgoing leader of the DUP said he was pleased to announce Fermanagh’s Arlene Foster, who is current Finance Minister, was the only candidate and the next stage in the process of appointing her leader had begun.
Mr Robinson added that on the first Assembly day after the Christmas recess he would stand down as First Minister and his successor would be appointed.
Speaking to the Fermanagh Herald this week, Minister Foster thanked her family and the party for their support.
