LISNAKSEA’S Caoimhe Donaghy has taken the World Irish Dancing Championships by storm, securing an outstanding fourth place and the coveted globe trophy.
At just 12, Caoimhe competed in the category under-13 with 174 dancers from all over the World.
“I felt a bit nervous but excited too as I just wanted to dance, as I was so ready for it,” Caoimhe said.
“I was so happy to come fourth place, my goal was to make the podium at the world’s. My next goal is to achieve another Globe and to do well in all my major championships.”
Caoimhe also finished a spectacular fourth place at the All Ireland Championships back in February. Not only was Caoimhe the top Fermanagh dancer placed at both events this year over all age groups, but at last year’s World Championships she was also the top placed dancer from Fermanagh in all age groups.
Caoimhe trains every week with the Catherine Flanagan Academy as well as her PT Joanne Doonan from the Stables, Roslea.
Dance Teacher Catherine said, “Caoimhe is one amazingly, talented kid, whose work ethic and sheer determination to push herself to be the best at such a young age is just first-class. I am incredibly proud of Caoimhe and I know she will continue to dance with her heart and let her passion shine through.”
Caoimhe has had spectacular success from a very young age lifting many major titles along the way. Caoimhe’s success at this year’s world championships has now qualified her for the finals of the 2026 World Championships in the USA next Easter. Caoimhe is now in preparation for the Irish Nationals Championships in Killarney in June.
