In a competitive match between two evenly matched teams, Aghadrumsee’s more clinical finishing ultimately won the game.

In beautiful sunshine, the home side got the scoring started with a point from play through Aoife McCabe, a prompt Devenish reply coming from Ellen O’Flanagan.

Aghadrumsee were then awarded a penalty, dispatched to the net by McCabe.

Devenish responded with a penalty of their own.

Aisling Maguire was fouled and the spot kick was scored by Ellen O’Flanagan.

A further goal from O’Flanagan gave Devenish the lead but this was to be short-lived as Aghadrumsee launched a strong closing surge, scoring 1-3 without reply.

The goal from Laura Grew and three points from Aoife McCabe for a 2-6 to 2-4 half time lead.

Devenish made a flying start to the second half, two Hannah Murphy goals and an O’Flanagan point thrusting them in front.

Aghadrumsee then hit a ‘purple patch’ of their own with points from Aoife McCabe (2) and Laura Grew, followed by goals from McCabe and a brilliant team effort finished in a goalmouth scramble.

St. MacCartan’s then withheld a late Devenish rally to win by four points in what was a most entertaining game.

Best for Aghadrumsee were Sarah McConville, Aoife McCabe and Laura Grew.

On the day Hannah Murphy, Ellen O’Flanagan and Megan Feely were best for Devenish.
