Fermanagh public warned over convincing scam

CALLOUS scammers have been taking advantage of the ongoing cost of living crisis, with convincing text messages claiming to be from the government circulating locally.

The messages, which vary slightly, claim to offer residents access to government cost of living support schemes and ask receivers to update their personal details, usually with a short deadline to do so.

One local woman who received one of the messages noted it had a few grammatical errors, which is what caught her attention, but otherwise the text seemed very convincing.

The PSNI has urged the public not to be fooled by the messages.
