Presidential peace award for Fr Gabriel

FERMANAGH missionary priest, Fr Gabriel Dolan, has been recognised by President Michael D Higgins for his work in the area of peace, reconciliation, and development.

Originally from Cashel, Fr Dolan has dedicated his life to communities in Kenya for over four decades, fighting first for voters rights, then expanding the cause to include land rights and the battle against corruption.

This work has now been recognised by President Higgins, who selected Fr Dolan as one of only 13 people to receive a 2023 Presidential Distinguished Service Award. He received the honour at a special ceremony in Dublin last week.

A Kiltegan Father of the St Patrick’s Missionary Society, Fr Dolan has spent his life working people of all backgrounds and creeds to fight for social justice.

Missionary charity, Misean Cara, declared he has “elevated Ireland’s international reputation through his inspiring accomplishments and work.”

“Fr Dolan is a passionate human rights activist and advocate for justice, who believes that the poor and marginalised have the capacity to liberate themselves if given the space, time and opportunity to organise into powerful change movements” says Misean Cara CEO John Moffett.
