Huge response to appeal for OAP targeted by thieves

A CORNAGRADE man who had his savings cruelly stolen by thieves has thanked the community for their support and generosity.
Seventy-nine year-old Frank McCaffrey was left shaken after his home on the Cornagrade Road was broken into and a sum of money stolen in a shocking burglary.
Enniskillen man Frank lives on his own, and is terminally ill and deaf.
He reported the incident to the police last Friday morning around 6.30am and it is believed that the thieves made off with around £500 of cash.
After hearing about the incident, the staff at the deli at Rooney’s Eurospar set up a Crowdfunding page and have raised almost £2,000 to date.
The public has been assured that the money raised will be kept safe for Frank to use it when and how he needs it.
On behalf of Frank, his niece Siobhan Brown has thanked everyone who has kindly donated to Frank after his ‘terrible ordeal’ and said he is extremely grateful for the support he has received.
“It is brilliant to see so many good people who have donated their money to Frank.
“I couldn’t believe it myself when I saw how much was raised for him,” said Siobhan.
Police in Enniskillen are appealing for information following the burglary.
A spokesman said, “A sum of money was believed to have been taken during the incident. Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact police on 101.”
