ONE OF Fermanagh’s most successful GAA clubs, Roslea Shamrocks, has announced the start of work on the revamp of their existing facilities at Shamrock Park.
The club is undertaking the development of a second full size sand carpet pitch complete with floodlighting to match standard, at a cost of approximately £360,000.
The new facility will see a new grass training pitch with associated floodlighting, dug outs, ball nets, fencing, retaining structure, pedestrian paths and landscaping.
The development is expected to be completed in early 2019.
The contact for the project, has been awarded to local pitch specialists Prunty Contracts.
Joe Pat, is currently club resident and has a long association with the club not only on the playing side but also in that he developed Roslea’s current pitch which was opened in 1988.
Joe Pat commented, “While as a company we are always delighted and honoured to be involved in the development of a pitch for any club, I am particularly pleased to be involved in this one, the second for my native parish and for a club that is particularly close to my heart.”
This project represents the latest phase in a major development programme planned by the club over the next number of years.
This includes the construction of a 3G surfaced 60m x 30m all sports leisure facility, the re-development and modernising of their existing clubhouse, the creation of a floodlit leisure walkway around the perimeter of their grounds and the building of a stand-alone indoor training area and Handball Courts.
The ultimate objective is to create a health and well Being Hub for the whole community over time.
