Pokemon Go has become instantly popular as the app has topped the UK download charts within the first week of it’s release making Nintendo billions of pounds.
The concept of the game is similar to that of the TV show and card game that were extremely popular in the nineties. In a mixture of gaming and reality, Pokemon Go brings characters such as Venusaur, Charmander, Blastoise and Pikachuto to the streets of the Fermanagh using a smartphones camera. Players can roam a map using the GPS feature on their mobile phone and catch virtual Pokemon at real locations.

Pokemon can be found in Enniskillen at various locations including Forthill Park, the Enniskillen Bus Depot and the Buttermarket, just to name a few of the locations. With the scenery on offer in Fermanagh, there is no wonder that people are taken to the streets to go on adventures in an attempt to “catch em all”.

One of the main reported benefits of the game is a surge in the number of people taking part in physical activity while out and about playing the new game. The game has massively encouraged people to partake in exercise in a fun and entertaining way.

Although there is a downside to the game. While the Nintendo game is a huge hit among people of all ages, there has been a number of reports of numerous people putting themselves at risk and acting dangerously while playing.

The police have recently issued a warning to those joining in on the worldwide phenomenon instructing people to enjoy the game safely. This warning comes as there has already been multiple people injured due to be so engrossed while playing the game. So if you are out and about Fermanagh, stay aware of your surroundings, avoid taking unnecessary risks and play safely.
