Police in Enniskillen are investigating criminal damage caused to Enniskillen Baptist Church this week.

The PSNI say the church at Cornagrade Road was targeted sometime between last Sunday, May 15th and yesterday morning (Thursday).

It is believed that rubble was thrown through a window at the front of the church while a door was also damaged.

Officers say enquiries are ongoing and they have appealed for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to contact them in Enniskillen on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The incident follows an arson attack on a Baptist church in County Down.

Tyres were placed against Rathfriland Baptist Church on the town’s Loughbrickland Road and were set on fire after 11pm on Wednesday.

Former Sinn Fein MLA Phil Flanagan has condemned the attack on the Fermanagh church. He tweeted: “Absolutely sickened that Enniskillen Baptist Church has been vandalised. Intolerance & sectarianism need stamped out”.
