COUNTRY superstar Nathan Carter said he was “absolutely delighted” to return to Willowbridge school in Enniskillen last week, where he wowed staff and pupils alike with a special performance at their Christmas party.

The Liverpool-born singer, who lives in Enniskillen, was joined by his nan and brother Jacob for the party, where pupils danced the morning away to Nathan’s rendition of festive favourites such as Shakin’ Stevens’ ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ and ‘Auld Langs Syne’, as well as his big hits such as ‘Wagon Wheel.’

Speaking to the Fermanagh Herald afterwards, Nathan said: “I was absolutely delighted to go back to Willowbridge. It’s my third year back to the school and my fourth time visiting. It’s really great to see the enjoyment the kids get out of it. I spent about an hour afterwards chatting with them and it was a really nice morning.”

Nathan said his brother and granny had joined him in Fermanagh to help with his current busy schedule, and he would be returning to Liverpool with them for the Christmas season. “I’m actually off for a week this year, which is the longest Christmas holiday ever, I’m usually playing gigs on Boxing Night and so on,” he said.

It’s all go once again after Christmas for Nathan, with three sold out shows at Vicar Street in Dublin, and his first ever talk show, featuring special guests such as Mary Black and Paddy Casey, airing at 9.30pm on RTE1 on December 30. “It’s a one off, but hopefully it will be turned into a series. It was my first time performing as a chat show host, but it went well. It’s full of music and chat,” he said.

As for Fermanagh, Nathan said he doesn’t get to stay in Enniskillen for as often as he liked, spending five days at his home in the town in the last month, but said he hoped to perform in Fermanagh in the New Year.

“I will be doing shows at the Ardhowen in October, but hopefully I’ll be doing things in Fermanagh before that,” he concluded.
