THE annual Feis Fhearmanach, which in recent years has been hit by a shortage of helpers, has again renewed its appeal for people to come forward to fill empty posts.

This time, the outgoing committee has set this week as the deadline for volunteers and, if people don’t come forward, there will be no Feis next year.

A statement issued this week on behalf of the committee said it held their AGM on Monday 14th September last and, despite numerous Press articles, no new members attended.

The statement added: “After much discussion, it became apparent to those present that, without additional personnel to fill the positions of Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, Traditional Music Secretary and Assistant Traditional Music Secretary, Classical Music Secretary and Assistant Classical Music Secretary, it would be impossible to organise Feis 2016.

“Unless these people come forward immediately, the situation regarding Feis 2016 will not change as arrangements normally commence mid-September with the booking of adjudicators, venues, etc.  The compilation of the syllabus has to be with the printers by January and the programme and events get under way by the end of February.”

The statement said anyone wishing to get involved needs to be computer literate as most correspondence is dealt with in this way.
So, if you are available now to take up any of the above positions, you will be assisted by the present committee in any way we can.
People are asked to contact the present chairman (Catherine Murphy) on 07876164609 or email cm_murphy@hotmail.co.uk.
