POLICE are on the hunt for a distinctive green Audi that they believe is linked to up to 20 burglaries here by travelling criminals.
Homes and property across the county have been targeted by criminals in recent weeks and police are on the look out for the car which they think is connected to the crimes.
This week, police inspector Roy Robinson told the Fermanagh Herald that police are investigating a link between a green Audi S6 and up to 20 burglaries in the area.
The unique vehicle has been spotted across Newtownbutler, Florencecourt, Belleek and Garrison. It is thought that border areas are being targeted.
The car has a chrome trim on the windows and mirrors and a distinctive exhaust noise.
“We believe it is linked to travelling criminals,” Inspector Robinson told the Fermanagh Herald, “Some people have seen anything from three to four people in the car.
“We believe it is somewhere out there in the community involved in burglaries both sides of the border. It quite an unusual model and it has chrome plate wing mirrors.”
He said also: “We believe that when we go after the vehicle it simply crosses the border and we inform the Garda and then it does vice versa. They seem to be certainly operating close to the border areas and as well as burglaries we also believe they’re linked to smashing car windows and removing handbags or contents.”
Last week, a Newtownbutler woman told the Herald that she had lost up to £10,000 worth, including damages, following a break-inbelieved to be linked to the Audi.
