Pete McGrath will have to plan without his talismanic number six for the qualifier visit of Antrim on Sunday.
After a hearing tonight in Croke Park it was decided that the red card Ryan McCluskey received in the Ulster semi-final will stand.
The Fermanagh defensive linchpin was dismissed by Padraig O’Sullivan midway through the second half against Monaghan in Breffni Park. It was a crucial moment in the game and helped turn the match in Monaghan’s favour.
The Kerry official decided to dismiss McCluskey after consulting with his umpire and adjudging the Enniskillen man to have dropped his knee on Monaghan’s Owen Duffy.
Subsequent footage of the incident showed it to be very much on the lower end of the disciplinary scale and Fermanagh supporters will feel frustrated with the decision to allow the red card stand.
If Fermanagh do get past Antrim, the good news is that McCluskey will once again be available for selection.
