Fermanagh Ladies GAA has been stunned by the surprise announcement today that Lisa Woods, who had steered the side to the intermediate All-Ireland final last year, has resigned her position as senior Fermanagh ladies manager.
“I’ve had nothing but good wishes today and most of the county board committee have already contacted me and said they’re very sad to see me go. I felt I built good relationships with them so I’ll definitely be sad to go,” said Woods.
Woods goes into full detail about the reasons behind her resignation in tomorrow’s Fermanagh Herald.
The announcement of Woods departure came on Tuesday morning in a statement from the Ladies county board.
“Lisa, since her appointment in 2013, has increased the profile of ladies football in Fermanagh, having brought the team back to an All-Ireland final in Croke Park last September,” said the county board’s statement.
“The Fermanagh LGFA County Board acknowledges Lisa’s contribution to the success and development of the senior team during her term as manager.
“We thank her for her unquestionable commitment, energy, dedication and selflessness, to Fermanagh during this time.”
The statement concluded by wishing Woods and her management team every success and happiness in the future.
