Fermanagh and Armagh names strong sides for final date

Pete McGrath has named a strong side to face Armagh in the NFL division three decider. The absence of Eoin Donnelly sees Ryan Jones drop back into midfield with Ciaran Flaherty making his third successive start of the league campaign. McGrath continues his policy of alternating keepers, with Thomas Treacy returning after Chris Snow was favoured against Clare. After Saturday’s game the pair will be tied on six starts apiece for the year. With Eoin Donnelly ruled out with a hand injury there are only two men left who will be able to finish the league campaign having played every minute, those being Sean Quigley and Barry Mulrone. Quigley has shaken off a knock sustained against Erne Gaels in a club game, and given the Roslea star is the only man to have scored from dead ball all year for Fermanagh, that news will have spared Pete McGrath something of a place-kicking headache.

Kieran McGeeney hasn’t emulated Pete McGrath’s consistency of selection with Charlie Vernon his only ever present throughout the league. That notwithstanding the Orchard manager has named a strong starting 15 to face the Ernesiders, both managers seeking a real test ahead of championship.
