TWO Fermanagh councillors will hold the top two positions when the new Fermanagh and Omagh District Council comes into full operation next week (April 1).
Sinn Fein’s Thomas O’Reilly will hold the position of chairperson of the new council for its first year, while DUP councillor Paul Robinson will hold the vice-chair seat.
The positions were confirmed during the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s AGM in Omagh on Monday night.
It means Cllr O’Reilly, who held the position of presiding councillor of the new council in its shadow form over the past year, holds onto the seat for another 12 months.
Monday night’s meeting also confirmed the appointment of councillors into positions of responsibility, as well as the election of councillors to committees and other bodies within the council district.
Those elected will take up their roles with effect from April 1 2015, holding the positions for one year.

Chair of Policy and Resources – Frankie Donnelly (Sinn Fein)
Chair of Regeneration and Community – Errol Thompson (DUP)
Chair of Planning – Glenn Campbell (Sinn Fein)
Chair of Environmental Services – Brendan Gallagher (SDLP)
Chair of PCSP – Thomas O’Reilly (Sinn Fein)
