The new Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has unveiled its new logo.
The purple branding, which features both the Irish and English language, will become a familiar sight on local council vehicles, buildings and publications.
The logo was launched simultaneously in Enniskillen’s Ardhowen Theatre and Omagh’s Strule Arts Centre on Monday morning. A series of proposals was put before the 40 strong council, who deliberated over a number of weeks, before settling on the final choice. Speaking at the Strule Arts centre launch, the shadow council’s Deputy Presiding Councillor Debbie Coyle said the new corporate identity will enable the residents of the district to identify with the new organisation.
“It will help you to recognise and understand what the council does and it will be used to identify council facilities and services. You will see it on signage marking the boundary of the new district as well as on Council-owned buildings and facilities. It will also be used on Council vehicles and on literature,” said the Enniskillen Sinn Fein councillor.
“We wanted a brand which would be distinctive and which would reflect what we consider is important for the new council. We recognise the uniqueness of our heritage and natural environment, and value our community. The logo combines these elements to create a strong visual identity.”
The chief executive of the new supercouncil, Brendan Hegarty said, “Today’s launch event is an example of the council working across both locations, as the logo and brand are being launched simultaneously here in Omagh and in the Ardhowen Theatre in Enniskillen, with the same speeches and the same video.”
