Maguiresbridge club man Keith Reilly was confirmed as the new Fermanagh minor manager earlier today. Reilly steps in after work commitments forced Niall Jackman to withdraw from the post for the coming year.
With many county’s already embarked on pre-season preparations, the appointment represents welcome continuity, Reilly having served as Jackman’s selector and trainer last year.
“I was delighted to get the opportunity to take it on having worked with this current bunch of players from last year,” said Reilly. “I do believe there is good quality there, although this year is likely to be a year young for this level, but I think the work we put in last year should stand to us this season. I’m more than delighted to get the chance to stay on and try improve this current crop of players.”
Reilly has considerable work done on his back room team with Colm Monaghan coming in as trainer and selector and John O’Neill is staying on to look after rehab and physio. Reilly is in the process of identifying a third selector and hopes to finalise that appointment in the next couple of weeks.
The 40-year-old is a native of Newtownbutler and currently works as coach in primary schools across Fermanagh. See next week’s Fermanagh Herald for a full interview with the new minor manager.
