IN BREAKING NEWS this evening (Thursday) the Herald can reveal that Education Minister John O’Dowd has approved the economic appraisal for a new build for Devenish College on the Tempo Road, Enniskillen.
Construction work on the new 800 pupil school will start within two years, with enabling works already complete at the site.
Mr O’Dowd informed the school today (Thursday) and the announcement will be formally made tomorrow (Friday).
The school were first promised a new build over ten years ago, but have been forced to wait until now for positive confirmation.
The development completes a whirlwind week for education in Fermanagh as last Friday the Minister approved the merger of Portora Royal School and Enniskillen Collegiate, which as a result will close the two schools as single entities.
