Two goals from midfielder Aaron Burns helped Linfield to full points against Ballinamallard this afternoon.
The Belfast side dominated the first half and opened the scoring after just 12 minutes Thompson’s beautiful backheel fell into the path of Stephen Lowry to shoot low into the far corner.
On 16 minutes they were two up. This time a pin point Ross  Clarke cross from the right found the head of Aaron Burns to head down past keeper Stafan McCusker.
In the second half Linfield increased their lead when Clarke got to the byline and pulled a great ball back for Burns to side foot his second goal home.
Ballinamallard did get a consolation goal when Lafferty’s snapshot was parried by keeper Johnny Tuffey and midfielder John Currie was on hand to slot home.
