LOCAL cake artist Connie Viney is at it again- this time displaying a life-size tea party in the middle of Kings Cross Station in London.
Connie (27), known for her larger-than-life creations was commissioned by Yorkshire Tea to build two giant cake sculptures to celebrate Yorkshire Day on August 1.
One sculpture was of a life-size tea party with famous Yorkshire celebrities; Mel B, Jarvis Cocker, Judi Dench and Louis Tomlinson. It was situated in the middle of Kings Cross station, while the other sculpture of an 8 foot Yorkshire Tea teapot pouring tea into a mug was displayed at Leeds Station. Speaking about her latest project Connie explained it was the most difficult yet.
“The cake we used in the giant cakes sculptures and the miniature samples was Yorkshire Tea flavoured sponge cake. It took us two weeks to make. It was without a doubt the most challenging project I have ever taken on.
“It was amazing to be part of such a high profile brand campaign. Yorkshire Tea are pretty forward thinking when it comes to advertising and social media.
“It was great to get an insight into the level of organisation that goes into something like this.”
Outside of the Yorkshire Tea cake project Connie has a number of other exciting commissions currently on the go, including a life-sized gingerbread house, a giant wedding cake made of cheese and a challenge to break a Guinness World Record.
“My diary is filled up to Christmas,” she added.
