IT HAS been twelve days since Nollaig O’Connor was discovered safe in Spain after being missing for over 14 months and her family have expressed their deepest gratitude at the ‘absolutely incredible’ support they have received.
Speaking to the Herald yesterday Nollaig’s father Bernard confirmed his daughter had settled in at home well and praised all those who helped in locating his daughter.
“That has been the whole success of this thing all along; the support. From way back last year this whole campaign to find her the support was absolutely incredible and all that arose on account of the Cassidys was absolutely incredible.”
On Facebook too the family have extended their gratitude with sister Nuala saying that as a family they have been ‘amazed’ at the response from the initial appeal and from social media.
Extending thanks to all those who contributed including Nicky and Tara Cassidy who located Nollaig in Spain to the Irish consulate and Aer Lingus Nuala also made an appeal to anyone who had spare musical instruments to give to keen musician Nollaig who lost her possessions on her travels.
Once again the public response was overwhelming as Nuala’s later post on Facebook revealed:
“If I were to accept them all I would have over ten guitars, nearly ten violins, not so many keyboards!!
“I am overwhelmed by the generosity of so many who don’t even know us or Nollaig. I am glad to know that you all wish Nollaig so well in her journey to recovery and will let her know in good time.
“I suppose I am so fixed on her getting to make music again, I haven’t thought of anything else she might need!! Perhaps I should have asked for a house!!!! That’s a joke, and yet the generosity is so great towards Nollaig that even a house could be possible!! God is good, we are so blessed at this time, and keep praying for Nollaig, please.”
The family have asked for privacy at this time as Nollaig’s journey to wellness continues, but are eternally grateful to all for their support as Nuala added:
“This is a good news story, we found our sister. We are truly grateful to God and all who helped in this search. This is a long post and the last post. And I keep saying thanks because that is all I can say, over and over again.
“I hope I have not missed anyone out. Thank God we have our sister with us and please God she will be well soon.”
