Fermanagh’s only two time All Star will be a huge addition to the panel as they look to avoid relegation and prepare for the championship against Antrim in June.
Owens spoke to the Herald this week and explained that he was ‘delighted’ to be back in the fold.
“It’s nice to be back. There is a great buzz about the place and Pete and the management are doing a great job.”
Owens took a break over the winter as he and his wife Caroline had twins recently.
“I have a very understanding wife,” Owens quipped.
Erne boss McGrath was obviously delighted to have Owens back on board.
“It would be fair to say that Barry is an iconic figure in Fermanagh. It is great to have him back. It is a real boost to everyone and he has brought a real sense of vibrancy and it is up to the rest of us to feed into that and use that in a positive fashion.”
And McGrath also feels that the 13 year veteran is a great influence on the younger players in the squad;
“If they want to see a role model then Barry is perfect. He works hard. Is committed. trains hard and is the perfect example for any young player who wants to know what it takes to be successful at this level.”
