POLICE in Fermanagh have arrested three men aged 24,26 and 30 years after pursuing a stolen car in the Irvinestown area on Thursday last, February 13.
At around 6.30 pm, the stolen vehicle collided with a Range Rover in the Mill Street area of Irvinestown in close proximity to Mahon’s Hotel.
A PSNI spokesman said the female driver of the Range Rover sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to the South West Acute Hospital for treatment. She has since been released.
She added: “The car was stolen in a ‘creeper’ burglary at a house in the Acres Road area of Craigavon some time between 8.15 pm and 9 pm the evening before, Wednesday February 12, when an intruder broke in, stole the car keys and made off in the car.
“All three men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and a number of driving offences and are currently assisting police with their enquiries.”
Local UUP councillor Raymond Farrell commended the police on their efforts
“This must have been a very frightening experience for the innocent motorist caught up in this act of criminality.
“I congratulate the police for their prompt action in what certainly had the potential to have been an even worse situation for some innocent person.”
