NO sooner, it seems, has one feis ended than the next one gets started on.
Last week, the Fermanagh Feis Committee released its syllabus for this year’s Feis which takes place, mainly, in March and April.
The date for competition in Scottish Highland Dancing is yet to be confirmed, and the Feis History section operates via email.
Its popular school tester, writing a letter to an historical character, is open to individuals and classes.
The secretary of the section, Maeve Jackson, herself a history teacher, has asked that responses must be posted to her by 14th February. The requirements are set out in the syllabus.
The other feis events are –
Art & Design 15th March; Classical and Contemporary Music 31st March and April 5th, 11th and 12th; Drama & Verse 20th-29th March; Irish Dancing 1st March; Irish Language March 27th-29th; Traditional music March 8th and 9th, and Verse & Drama March 20th-29th.
The closing date for entries s Friday, 31st January to allow for the printing of the feis programme. Late entries will not be accepted.
The exception is Irish dancing where entries may be submitted on the day of the competition.
No entries, the Irish dancing apart, will be accepted beyond midnight on 31st January. Entries by phone will not be accepted, and full payment must be received at time of entry.
Some sections will not be issuing competition cards, but section timetables will be sent to the schools.
There are changes in this year’s entry fees, and competitors are advised to check each section.
The Feis Management Committee comprises – President, Lena Corrigan; Chairperson Catherine Murphy; Treasurer Katie Crudden; Assistant treasurer Maureen McGovern; Secretary/PRO Ita Vesey.
Copies of the Feis syllabus will be on the feis website shortly.
