Fermanagh Enterprise to help out High Street

John Treacy, Manager of the Enniskillen Business centre

John Treacy, the manager of Fermanagh Enterprise Ltd, said he was looking forward to getting involved.

FERMANAGH Enterprise Ltd, whose offices are at Tempo Road, Enniskillen, has won a contract from Fermanagh District Council to train and mentor retail and hospitality businesses in High Street, Enniskillen.

Their tender of £43,883 was one of four submitted and approved at this week’s council meeting.

The money to fund the scheme, £46,000, was awarded to the council by the Department for Social Development for implementing the training and mentoring programme.

The brief includes business audits, accredited training, mentoring, seminars and ‘mystery shopper’ visits.
Speaking to the Herald yesterday, a delighted John Treacy, the manager of Fermanagh Enterprise Ltd, said he was looking forward to getting involved.

“We have done this kind of thing before”, he explained. “I suppose it’s a fundamental part of the service we have always provided, the training and development of businesses, micro businesses and local indigenous businesses.

“We are looking forward to working with the businesses in the High Street and, hopefully, help them to improve their lot over the next 12 months.”

Mr Treacy explained that the client businesses will include retail and those in the hospitality sector, eg coffee shops.

“In terms of staff, it’s going to involve a team of three or four from here, but we will also be bringing others on board outside of the company, and indeed, outside of Fermanagh.

“They are people with specialist skills, for instance in marketing, retail, customer care, skills that we would not have.

“So, we will be buying that from other firms, and we did indicate that to the council when we submitted our tender.”

Fermanagh Enterprise Ltd has a proven track record in helping businesses grow. It currently has 8 staff but, with this new contract, there is the likelihood that more staff will be taken on.
