A 26-year-old woman who was found slumped outside a pub in Irvinestown with her trousers partially down had been trying to urinate, Fermanagh court has heard.
Shauna Moran, of Kesh Road, Irvinestown, pleaded guilty to a charge of simple drunk when she appeared before Monday’s court.
On November 23 police were on mobile patrol in Irvinestown when they spotted a woman slumped with her head down outside licensed premises on Main Street.
The officers who went to her assistance recognised her and also noticed that her trousers had been lowered to her upper thighs. As they tried to speak to her they noted that her eyes were glazed and that she was unable to stand even with the assistance of the officers.
She then started screaming and making comments that made police think she was trying to urinate on the street before attempting to pull away from the officers.
Moran was arrested and taken to Enniskillen Police Station.
The defendant’s solicitor Garry Smyth told the court that his client had been drinking before the incident adding that she suffers from depression and is on medication for her illness.
“She consumed a lot of alcohol,” he said.
“She was receiving counselling and is involved in a mental health programme.”
District Judge Nigel Broderick gave her a conditional discharge of 12 months and said: “I understand you are trying to deal with whatever you have. If you don’t address these problems you will be back in court.”
A charge of disorderly behaviour was withdrawn by the public prosecution service.
