ENNISKILLEN-BORN student Luke Burns got something of a trim this week – in promotion for his university’s ‘Movember’ appeal.

The PhD who up until last week had been sporting a rather impressive beard, went for a full shave to help promote Queen’s appeal for men to grew a moustache during the month of ‘Movember’ to raise funds for research in men’s health.

Luke, who had been growing the beard on and off for 10 months, told the Fermanagh Herald: “All the faculties around Queen’s have put together teams of ‘mo-bros’ to out-score each other in the donations count.

“Having quite the beard I was recruited by the faculty’s head Mo-bro to give our faculty more publicity so I decided to shave the beard off for that, and for a bit of a change!”

Movember raised over £92 million globally in 2012 and supported a number of men’s health causes including prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health.
