Fermanagh pubs do battle in Ulster awards

TWO Fermanagh pubs are to battle it out at the Pubs of Ulster’s Pub of the Year Awards 2013.

The Devenish Bar in Enniskillen and the Mayfly Inn in Kesh, are shortlisted for the ‘Best Entertainment’ award – and are the only two of the pubs representing Fermanagh across a range of categories.

The Devenish Bar is also shortlisted in the Best Marketing Initiative category.

Both bars will now go head to head with pubs from across Northern Ireland to be named the toast of the trade next month.

Winners of eight award categories – including the overall Pub of the Year 2013 – will be revealed at a special gala awards night hosted by BBC Apprentice’s Jim Eastwood at the La Mon Hotel and Country Club on Wednesday November 13.

Commenting on the awards Pubs of Ulster chairman, Mark Stewart, said:

“I would like to congratulate both the Devenish Bar and the Mayfly Inn and wish them the very best of luck at next month’s Pub of the Year Awards.”

The Pub of the Year’s expert judging panel consists of mentalist and hospitality expert, David Meade; drinks industry veterans, Padraig Cribben (CEO, Vintners Federation Ireland), Norman Trotter (former head of C&C), Terry Loughins (former Diageo) & Maire Campbell (former Coca-Cola); marketing whiz, Enda McShane (Velocity Worldwide); retail specialist, Hugh Black (formerly Victoria Square, Belfast), Martin Breen, editor, Sunday Life and top business journalists from Northern Ireland’s main daily newspapers.
