A MAN has died serious fire above a shop in Main Street, Tempo, today, Wednesday.

Four fire appliances in attendance and the street had been closed to traffic.

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) spokesman said:

“We received a call at 11.46am today (9 October 2013) to attend a fire in a first floor flat in Main Street, Tempo Enniskillen.

“Two Fire Appliances from Enniskillen Fire Station and 2 Fire Appliances from Lisnaskea Fire Station attended the scene.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat and sadly found an 84 year old male fatality in the hallway of the flat.

“Fire Crews dealt with a significant fire in the property”

“Both a man in his 60’s, who tried to gain entry into the flat to help rescue the man and a woman in the adjacent flat, were taken to hospital via ambulance suffering from the effects of breathing in smoke.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
