LAST Sunday, the Church of Ireland Bishop of Clogher, the Right Revd John McDowell, ordained to the priesthood Belfast-born, The Revd Rob Clements in St Macartin’s Cathedral, Enniskillen.
Rev Clements has now commenced serving as Curate Assistant in St Macartin’s.
Before ordination, he worked in Drug and Alcohol Services, Adult Education, and in Youth and Community Work.
He and his wife Julie in Belfast have two young children, Sophie and Gideon.
Rev Clements was presented for ordination by six sponsors, and the Revd Ngozi Njoku, Rector of Garrison, Slavin, Belleek and Kiltyclogher, led the first reading, and the Revd Alistair Warke, Diocesan Curate, read the second reading.
The Very Revd Kenneth Hall, the Dean of St Macartin’s Cathedral, did the Gospel reading.
The preacher was the Revd Ted Woods, Rector of Rathfarnham Parish in the United Diocese of Dublin and Glendalough, where Rob spent his year as an Intern Deacon.
Following the ordination litany, which was sung by the Precentor, the Revd Canon Noel Regan, all joined in singing the ‘Veni, Creator Spiritus’.
The Ordination Prayer with the Laying on of Hands followed, the bishop then presented the ordinand with a Bible, and the congregation applauded their newly ordained priest.
After Holy Communion was celebrated, the bishop gave the blessing, Revd Clements said the dismissal.
At the end of the service, the congregation adjourned to the parish hall for refreshments.
