Noble defends his title on home soil

Gavin Noble

OLYMPIC TRIATHLETE, Gavin Noble, was in sparkling form over the weekend, taking home the top prize at the Vodafone Dublin City Triathlon on Sunday.

The Fermanagh man took first place on the podium, in which over 900 runners, riders and swimmers took part – and, he successfully defended the title that he won last year.

He faced competition from the likes of national series leader Rory Sexton and other series race challengers, Kevin Thornton, David Richardson, Trevor Woods  and Mariusz Olejniczak; and a return to racing of Bryan Mc Crystal.

Gavin told the Fermanagh Herald: “I am getting ready for a half ironman this weekend in Austria and so it was a good ‘hit out’ before then”.

He added: “I felt in control during the race in Dublin, pushing hard in parts and then easing off. My 5th win on that course over the years and now that I since I moved to Dublin the course at the Phoenix Park is right outside my door and so it is a very familiar route.”
