TEN YEARS this Winter Sean Corrigan has been making music. The Kinawley man has been a mainstay within the scene since those early days, and, on May 13 – he releases his third album.
“I’ve been doing my one-man show the last 10 years,” Sean told Country and Western Focus.
“It’s going on a year from when I first starting recording the new album. There are 12 tracks and all are covers. There’s a duet in it with Nathan Carter and that was an honour. Myself and Nathan did the Glor Tire show last year and I got to the semi-final of it.”
The 28-year-old has previously released two albums: ‘Hello Heart’ and ‘Down That River Road’ – as well as a live DVD.
The new album is entitled ‘One Of These Days’.
I’m hoping people like the choice of songs. It’s something similar to what I’ve done before – I always keep it lively. Just good old country songs,” continued Sean.
The album was recorded at Harmony Studios in Letterkenny. The current single is ‘Everybody’s Woman’, and Sean has an array of musicians helping him out on the album.
“I wouldn’t be the best guitar player – and with a lot of the recordings that’s the way they work. You get the top crowd in to get the recording done. They can get it done quicker and better.
“I like the ‘If Love Is A River’ track, it turned out very well and to have Lisa (McHugh) and Nathan singing on it was great was.
“There’s another track called ‘Trust you with my Heart’ – it’s not really the style of song I’d do but I thought I’d give it a go and I’m happy with how it turned out.”
In a live-setting, Sean described himself as ‘lively’ and ‘up-beat’.
“Most of my work is on my own. I’d do the two-piece for weddings and certain dances, we’ve a wedding band called ‘The Wedding Bandits’ which is a two-piece, my friend Gerry Mac from Tempo would be in that.”
And on Monday, May 13, he will have his launch night at the Enniskillen Hotel. Included on the bill is Shaun Loughrey, The Benn Sisters, Anthony McBrien, John Garrity, Bonnie Stewart and Brendan McGarrity, Ally Harron and Marian Curry, Francie Smith, Gerry Mac, Vincie Walmsley, Sean McAloon, Karl Kirkpatrick. Admission is £10 and doors open at 8pm, with a 9pm start of show.
“It’ll be 4 hours dancing, it’ll be a good lively show – there are some great acts on it. The majority of them are local. I always put my friends first, so the people who we’ve got on the show are friends of mine in the business.
“It should be a great night,” he concluded.
