SWAH staff put their horticulture skills to the test

EMPLOYEES at the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen recently put their horticulture skills to the test as part of “light hearted novel event” that was aimed to boost staff camaraderie.
The staff at the Fermanagh hospital have been coming under increasing pressure and stress to cope with the ever-worsening situation at the South West Acute Hospital.
Recently-retired porter, Benny Cassidy, made a special return back to the Enniskillen hospital as part of the celebratory event which was aiming to boost morale and spirits at the SWAH.
“I had the very privileged job of judging sunflowers grown by the laboratory staff at the SWAH [South West Acute Hospital],” Mr Cassidy post on his ‘Enniskillen Banter Facebook Group’ page.
“The competition was to involve this essential healthcare team who play such a huge part in diagnostic and analytical work in the care of patients in a light hearted novel event.
“[It] drew on their individual and competitive nature to produce beautiful sunflowers from seed.
“Very well done to all for nurturing the plants especially given that some of you were complete novices in such regard.”
The recent sunflower competition is part of a number of events which have been held to honour and celebrate the work of the staff at the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen.
Chief Executive of the Western Trust, Neil Guckian, recently stopped off in the county to celebrate their commitment at a ‘Volunteer Recognition’ event.
“I wish to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all our volunteers across the Western Trust,” said Mr Guckian.
“The contribution made by our volunteers, ranging from a friendly face at the front door or a listening ear, benefits patients, visitors and staff alike.”
