Two arrested after Enniskillen terrorism searches

Detectives from the Police Service’s Terrorism Investigation Unit have made two arrests and carried out searches in the Enniskillen area earlier today, Wednesday 3rd July.

The proactive operation was in relation to the discovery of an improvised explosive device in Co Louth on 9th June.

Detective Chief Inspector Hamlin said: “Working in conjunction with colleagues in An Garda Síochána we carried out searches at three properties in the Enniskillen area earlier today.

“Two men, both aged in their 40s, have been arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and remain in police custody at this time.

“We are grateful for the support of local communities and encourage anyone with information, or concerns, to contact us on 101 or report online via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport.”
