Four accused over burglaries at homes of elderly

THREE men and a woman who are accused of multiple burglaries and theft in the Fermanagh area, in which elderly, vulnerable victims were targeted have been refused bailed.
The offences are alleged to have occurred on numerous dates between 16 June and 21 August, in Enniskillen, Lisbellaw, Maguiresbridge, Tempo and Fivemiletown, resulting in a combined total of 50 charges.
Ildiko Cseban (34) faces three counts each of burglary, attempted burglary and burglary with intent to steal. Krisztian Kovacs – the youngest defendant at aged 19 – is accused of four counts of attempted burglary, three each of burglary and burglary with intent to steal.
Alex Kozak (28) is accused of three counts each of burglary, attempted burglary and burglary with intent to steal. Finally, Gyorgy Kozak (34) is charged with five attempted burglaries, three each of burglary and burglary with intent to steal and a single count of going equipped for burglary.
All the details of alleged offending were not disclosed, but it is understood all victims are elderly and vulnerable, ranging in ages from 88 to 96.
All four defendants are originally from Hungrary but lived at an address in Convent Court, Cavan.  Since their arrest at the end of August, Alex Kozak and Gyorgy Kozak has been in custody in Maghbrerry prison while Ildiko Cseban and Krisztian Kovacs has been in Hydebank.
On Monday, the four defendants appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday via videolink and a bail application was made on their behalf.
Defence barrister Ciaran Roddy said there had been an address offered in Belfast for the four defendants but police deemed the address unsuitable.
Police objected to bail for all four defendants and an officer said the owner of the house does not reside there anymore, and there was already four people living in the house.
District Judge Michael Ranaghan refused bail for the four defendants, stating that the address is not suitable, there is a risk of flight and he is concerned about the risk of reoffending.
