A Coonian based textiles firm has recorded a positive upsurge in profit and turnover in the last year, according to new accounts.
Cooneen By Design Ltd specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of garments as well as the provision of a complete uniform managed service to a diverse range of customers in both the private and public sector.
A business review showed a profit for the year, after taxation amounting to £2.8 million up from £2.1m in 2017.
A recruitment drive saw the firm increase staffing levels. According to the report filed with Companies House at present the firm employs 171 staff, an increase of approximately 20 staff within the year.
Total staff costs for the group last year totalled £6.1m an increase of more than half a million pounds on 2017.
Meanwhile the amount paid to directors fell from £563,384 to £471,091 in 2018, during which time Kevin McMahon stepped down as director. The highest paid director received £253,003 an increase of over £4000 from the previous period.
The company founded over half a century ago continues to be a key employer in the area. It also has overseas offices in England, the United States, China and Bangladesh.
In a brief statement accompanying the latest report managing director Eugene Greene said, “Market conditions have been very competitive in 2018 and will continue to remain so in the current year. The directors aim to maintain market share and continue to meet its customer requirements.”
