THE housing offering in Derrylin could be set to get a boost, that is if planning permission for almost 30 new houses is given the green light.
The plans detail proposals for a mix of detached and semi-detached houses in the Summerhill Park area of the village.
An application to the Council seeks permission for the development of 24 semi-detached and five detached houses. In addition to this there is also plans to build four semi-detached garages and six detached garages.
Councillor Chris McCaffrey welcomed further housing development in the village.
“It’s great to see development in the Derrylin area. Hopefully with the addition of this housing we can attract more families to the area.”
Councillor McCaffrey added that there is a demand for housing in the area at the minute with people already showing interest in the potential development of these houses.
“This is a lovely area and these would appear to be high quality houses. I would welcome the extra investment in the area. In this current climate there are a lot of people renting houses.
“This will boost the housing offering for those looking to take the next step into that chapter of their lives.”
This is the latest housing development proposed for the county. It follows plans to increase the housing offering in Lisnaskea with proposals under consideration for the development of over 20 houses in the Kilmore Green area.
While a decision in regard to planning is still pending local Councillor Garbhan McPhillips had said that the construction of five detached and 18 semi-detached properties would bring economic benefits to the town.
Further housing could also bring a boost to the area with plans for housing development in Carrosyl area of the town also in the pipeline.
In Enniskillen plans for the development of a major site to build 64 new houses is ongoing. The Cherry Dale site on the Tempo Road, close to the Cherrymount Link Roundabout is planned to include 16 detached homes and 40-semi-detached homes.
Consultation on the development has concluded with architect noting that plans were positively ‘received’.
