RETAIL giant Claire’s Accessories is reported to be considering closing some of its UK stores.
The fashion accessory chain has a store in Erneside Shopping Centre in Enniskillen and is said to be ‘closing underperforming stores.’
It is not yet known if the Enniskillen store or any of the stores in the North will be impacted by the move but The Press Association said that the High Street chain was talking to restructuring firms about ‘a number of options.’
If the Enniskillen store is affected it is believed that around five members of staff could be left in limbo.
The popular chain – which offers ear piercing as well as cheap jewellery, hair accessories and head pieces – is aimed at teenagers and tweens aged eight to 12-year-olds.
The chain has more than 350 stores in the UK, according to its most recent accounts.
According to the Press Association, one rescue plan being considered is a company voluntary arrangement (CVA).
Under this some stores are closed and rents are reduced on remaining stores.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Claire’s Accessories said that closing underperforming stores was “part of normal business practice”.
