Were you a past student of Ashwoods Primary School with some interesting stories and memories to share?
The rural school has been closed for 50 years, and a group of former students from the 1950’s are organising a reunion, and they are looking for all past students to get involved.
The school which was situated at the junction of the Ashwoods and Sligo Road was opened in 1887, and closed in 1968 and was eventually demolished in 1972.
The students who attended the school were sent to other schools in Enniskillen.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the closure, an informal reunion for all past pupils has been organised in the Three Way Inn, Sligo Road, Enniskillen on September 28th at 8pm. The reunion will be preceded by a mass in The Graan at 6.30pm.
A booklet of reminiscences, anecdotes and photos is being published to mark the occasion and organisers would love anyone who has any memorabilia or photos from the school to get in touch.
The organisers said “The reunion will consist of a meal and an opportunity to mingle, chat and renew youthful friendships.”
The cost per person is £25 and anyone who wants to attend the function, or has photos or memorabilia can contact Jim Maguire on jjmaguire48@gmail.com or Desi Ward at dialfordesi31543@btinternet.com.
