Plans for the new Devenish College

AFTER years of waiting, a full planning application has been lodged for the new £23.4 million Devenish College.
Following a pre-planning application notice, a full planning application was submitted to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council earlier this month by Education Authority NI Western Region for the proposed construction of a new build post primary school with associated sports pitches and parking provision.
The plans for the Devenish College new build include two synthetic sports pitches, a grass rugby pitch, five tennis courts, a four-court sports hall, fitness suite and dance studio. There are also plans for four recording studios, three technology workshops, six science labs and eight computer rooms.
Last October the public had a chance to have their say on the plans at a consultation meeting. The 800-pupil build, complete with sport pitches and parking will be based at Lackaghboy and Agharainy on the Tempo Road.
The school has been assured that construction work on the new state of the art project will begin this year and Principal Simon Mowbray expects this to be completed in 2019.
“This will truly be a fantastic 21st century school which our pupils richly deserve. It will be the most modern school in Northern Ireland when it is complete and will allow us to further develop our pupils into well-rounded, highly skilled, motivated and employable young people. The school is continuing to grow from strength to strength and I have no doubt the development of our new school will only enhance this further,” he said
