A 14-year-old boy smashed three windows in a block of flats by throwing stones, a youth court sitting at Enniskillen Magistrates Court heard on Wednesday.

The prosecutor outlined that on July 21st this year, police were tasked to an incident of criminal damage at a block of flats at Carnmore Lodge, Cornagrade in Enniskillen.

In total three windows were damaged at the property resulting in £85.11 worth of damage.

The injured party gave a description of the groups of youths involved who were spoken to by police in the vicinity. These included the defendant who was apprehended by officers outside the property.

He later admitted his involvement in a police interview, telling them he had broken the windows using stones.

The youth was also charged with disorderly behaviour and resisting police in relation to a separate incident on 1st August at Cleenish Park in Enniskillen.

The defendant was being arrested on an unrelated matter when he became abusive to officers. He also struggled with police officers as they attempted to handcuff him.

District Judge Nigel Broderick heard that there was no real excuse for the defendant’s “unacceptable” behaviour but that he accepted full responsibility.
The defendant consented to a youth conference report being prepared by the Youth Justice Agency.

Mr Broderick told the teenager to cooperate with the Probation Service in the preparation of the report and urged him to attend all his appointments.

He adjourned sentencing in his case until January 10th, to allow the Youth Justice Agency time to prepare a youth conference report.
