A KESH man’s love of vintage cars will be remembered at a special celebration this Saturday, 12th November at Rossharbour, Boa Island.
The event is being organised in memory of the late Jackie Armstrong, who died on June 9th 2014, aged 54. Throughout his life, he was a huge motor enthusiast with a great interest in vintage vehicles.
To celebrate his love of vehicles, Saturday’s event will consist of a display of a range of vintage vehicles which will be open to the general public. A vintage vehicle run will commence from Rossharbour at 12 noon taking in a picturesque route around Lower Lough Erne returning to afternoon tea at Rossharbour.
Money raised at this event will be equally split between NI Children’s Hospice Horizon West at Killadeas and the rally team of Jackie’s son Jon.
“My father had a passion for all vehicles but he was very enthusiastic about vintage vehicles and especially Ford Cars,” his son Neil explained. “We wanted to celebrate this and organised this event as it is something that Dad had always wanted to do himself. Before he passed away he had restored several vintage cars and these will be on display on the day. We are really excited to be hosting this event in memory of Dad and welcome everyone to enjoy this fantastic family day.”
The money raised for Jon Armstrong’s team will enable him to continue pursuing the dream he started with his late father. The Children’s Hospice provides specialist care and respite for children with life limiting illness and their families. Funds raised on the day will go towards providing specialist nursing care to these very special children and their families.
Heather Gott, Community Fundraiser with NI Children’s Hospice added: “This will be a magnificent day for all the family with attractions for both adults and children including live entertainment, clay pigeon shoot, bouncy castle and face painting. We would like to thank the Armstrong family for supporting NI Children’s Hospice.”
Entertainment will continue into the evening with a gourmet BBQ, entertainment from The Originals and John Garrity as well as a charity auction and raffle.
Tickets for the evening entertainment are available from The NI Hospice Shop, Enniskillen and registration for the vehicle run is open. If you wish to register or require further information please contact Neil on 07554515323 or Heather on 07711377338 or email heather.gott@nihospice.org
