IT’S THAT time of year again as Fr Brian D’Arcy has started preparing for what will be his last Graan prize draw and dinner dance.
Fr Brian has been involved in the annual event for the past 25 years, and as his time at The Graan comes to an end, he is looking forward to one last dinner dance. The dance takes place on Friday November 25th and as always the top prize in the prize draw is a brand new car.
“We have raffled over 40 cars throughout the years. It is only £2 a time, and everyone takes part. We always buy the car locally, to ensure that the local community gets built up. People are extremely good and it has been going for so long that people look forward to the draw and the dance. There is a huge dinner, and a very good band. This year we have The Conquerors coming from Galway for the dance.
“This year will most likely be my last year doing it. I have been involved for about 25 or 26 years so I think people will think that this is a good way to say goodbye to me. If you thought about everything being your last, you would never enjoy yourself but I honestly do not know where I will be next year.
“We will have a great night, and it is all to continue the work of the Graan,” said Father Brian D’arcy.
The Dinner Dance takes place on Friday November 25th at The Killyhevlin Hotel with The Conquerors. Tickets cost £35 each and are available at reception now. It will be on a first come first served basis and it is not possible to reserve Dinner Dance tickets. It’s “Sale” only. Refunds will not be possible after November 20th.
