Parts of Fermanagh could face up to 10mm of rain today, according to forecasters The Rivers Agency warned the wet weather would cause Upper Lough Erne to spill over even further following the chaos caused by Storm Desmond.

Forecaster MeteoGroup last night (Wednesday) confirmed eight millimetres of rain fell yesterday in parts of Fermanagh, and warned 10mm could fall today.

The public agencies responding to the flooding situation and consequent road closures in parts of County Fermanagh have agreed a single point of contact for anyone isolated or otherwise affected by the rising water levels in Lough Erne and road closures.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s on-call emergency number is 07711 388 566.

Callers to that number will have their details taken and be advised of what assistance can be given.

For those who are isolated because of road closures and cannot make essential journeys such as for hospital or doctor’s appointments, the collection of repeat prescriptions, baby milk, or other welfare assistance, Red Cross Neighbourhood Link volunteers will be tasked to go out to those affected.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is co-ordinating the multi agency response to the current flooding emergency and is working with the Red Cross, Western Health & Social Care Trust, Rivers Agency, Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service to support those directly affected and address their immediate needs.
