WORKERS at Enniskillen Marks and Spencer are lending their support to 71 children in the county by giving them a Christmas present.

Westville Family Resource Centre received the gifts on behalf of some of the families they work with throughout Fermanagh. Each member of Marks and Spencer, Enniskillen contributed a gift for a child and personalised them with the child’s first name. The gifts were delivered to the centre by staff from the store and handed on Friday and handed them over to Doreen Mullan, the centre manager.

Mrs Mullan explained the initiative has now been running for two years and this year is called the ‘Spark something good this Christmas appeal.

“It is a fantastic initiative.  We deliver services to about 265 children and out of those number of children we have picked 71 children who we felt could do with additional support this Christmas.”

She continued: “We had a parent last year who said her wee girl got a purse, she thinks because she’s a teenager. When she opened the purse there was £20 inside it. They said it made such a difference to them. It’s just tremendous.”

Kerry Foods also work in partnership with the Westville Family Resource Centre and have been supplying gifts to the children at Christmas for the past five years.

The staff at the centre will be busy distributing the gifts to their families in time for Christmas and Mrs Mullan added her thanks to all who have supported the appeal.

“On behalf of the children and parents I would like to sincerely thank all staff and management who contributed to the appeal. What a lovely thing for people to do, sharing a little sparkle to each child’s Christmas.”
